The soul's functions (mind, will, and emotion) are naturally attributes desirable to God in the man, but they are not to be the guiding principle in the man since God communicates His life by the Spirit in our spirit, that is, our inner man. Without this 'line of communication' we can not commune with God therein, and vanity rules. God can communicate His life entering the window of man's conscience in the seat of his intuition, and residing there, upon initial salvation (born-again, given a new spirit, a quickened spirit, and new life).
